Board Meeting - Monday - November 13, 2006

The meeting was opened at 7:45 President Jill.  Minutes were read by RoseMary and approved.  Bob gave the treasurer’s report showing a balance of $1,857.97.  Thirteen members have paid dues.  A letter was composed by Ron and approved by all and will be mailed out to remind everyone that the fiscal year has changed now running from October to October and dues are due.

The next meeting will be the Christmas Party on Friday, December 8 at 6:00 P.M. at Sam Corey Senior Center and will be strictly FUN with a potluck, music, dancing, and entertainment.  Diane is in charge and a motion was made to provide her with a budget of $50.00 for decorations, etc.

Jill talked to Doris Finley from the Friendship Force of Greater Detroit who was the out-bound exchange director to the all-Michigan exchange to Australia last September and all had a good time.  She will be exchange director for the 2007 exchange to New Zealand.

Diane volunteered to be exchange director for the in-bound exchange from Mount Barker and Casterton, Australia.  She would like to put together something (CD, video, pamphlet) telling all about Michigan and why clubs should come here.  This idea was approved and will be worked on.

The main goal of the evening was to discuss the meetings of the coming year.  It was decided to have a general meeting every other month on the third Friday of the month and board meetings on the opposite month on the third Monday as follows:

General meetings: December 8, 2006-Christmas Party (as mentioned above); February 16, 2007; April 20; June 15; July 16 (both general and board meeting to plan for incoming Australians);  August—inbound exchange (dates to be announced); October 19-Annual Meeting; and December 7 (Christmas Party).  Interesting programs will follow every meeting.

Board meetings: January 15; March 19; May 21; July 16 (along with general meeting to plan inbound exchange with Australia); September 17; November 19;

It is hoped that members will put these dates on their calendars.  All the above will be put on the web-site which is being updated by Bob.

With no further business, the meeting was closed at 9:57 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Rose Mary Hopp, Treasurer

Board Meeting - October 27, 2006

The annual meeting of the Friendship Force of Greater Lansing was held on Friday, October 27, 2006, at the Sam Corey Community Center.   13 members were present.

President Jill and Vice-President Diane gave a summary of the past year’s activities.  Treasurer Bob  summarized the treasury  for the year indicating a balance as of September 30, 2006 of  $ 1,837.41.  Dues for the fiscal year (October-October) are: $16.00 single; $25.00 couple; $10.00 for the Friendship Force Magazine.

Diane announced that we would be participating in the Global Festival at M.S.U. on Sunday, November 19, 2006 from 12 noon-5:00 P.M..  It is a multicultural event displaying

booths, performances, and food from many countries.  This will be a good way to promote Friendship Force.  Anyone wishing to help, call Diane at 332-3823.

Jill asked if club wanted to buy copies of “The Other Side of the Mountain” at 20 for $100.  After much discussion, it was decided not to purchase them.  Bob has a copy that he will pass on to other members.

Other topics discussed were:  The Friendship Force 30th Anniversary, March 1, in Atlanta, with home hosting; Jill has been appointed field representative for Michigan and Ohio; New fees for U.S. and elsewhere; question of extra hosting in 2007-yes, as long as it does not interfere with other commitments.

Schedule of meetings, monthly or bi-monthly, will be discussed at the next board meeting

which is scheduled for Monday, November 13 at Jill’s house—7:00 P.M..

EXCHANGE DIRECTOR is needed for the inbound exchange from Mt. Barker and Casterton, Australia in August.

Request for 2008 outbound exchange:  Many suggestions but finally agreed with following:

Group A    1)Canada   2) Australia

Group B     1) Mexico  2) Costa Rica

The next meeting will be Friday, December 8 at 6:00 P.M. at Sam Corey Community Center. It will be strictly PARTY—potluck dinner and fun.

Respectfully submitted,

RoseMary Hopp, Treasurer
