Board Meeting - January 22, 2007

The board meeting of the Friendship Force of Greater Lansing met at the home of RoseMary and Tom on Monday, January 22, 2007. The meeting opened at 7:09 P.M. with 5 members present: Jill, Bob, Diane, Ron, Tom, and RoseMary.

The minutes were read and date of meetings were corrected:  The board meetings are scheduled for the 4th Monday of every other month instead of the 3rd.  Minutes approved.

Board meeting dates: (4th Monday of odd months)

March 26 at Diane and Ron’s; May 22 at Jill’s; (July-date of inbound exchange from Australia); September 24-Jill’s; November 26-RoseMary and Tom’s.

General meeting dates: (3rd Friday of even months at Sam Corey’s unless otherwise announced)

February 16- Japan (slide presentation--Tom Hopp); April 20-Iceland (Program--Tonya Green); June 15-Programs --Ireland (Jill Murphy)-Dayton(Ron Parsons); Sunday, August 19-Picnic at Jill’s; October 19-Potluck and Annual meeting; Friday, December 7-Christmas Party.

The treasurer’s report was passed out by Bob showing a balance of $1983.45 with 24 paid members.

New Business: Diane suggested that we should “market” our club by letting other clubs be aware of our website, e-mails, or other ways.

Bob stated that the website was getting filled up and that perhaps we should consider paying $60 a month to enhance it.  He and Ron were appointed to investigate the situation and a motion was made, seconded and approved to appropriate $60 should they deem it advisable.

Jill announced that she would be attending the 30th Anniversary of FF in Atlanta.

Diane is Exchange Director for the in-bound Australia group.  She will be holding meetings and asking for everyone’s help.

2008 exchanges were received:  Out-bound to Costa Rica and in-bound from Causeway Coast, UK.  Exchange directors to be chosen after the CD from International arrives describing duties of ED’s.

Jill asked if the Club should pursue a domestic exchange and most everyone said yes.

Gifts for inbound ambassadors was discussed.  Pins, either a specific one for Lansing FF or the flag of country visited were ideas along with the Michigan-shaped cheese board.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 P.M.

Board Meeting - November 13, 2006

The meeting was opened at 7:45 P.M.by President Jill.  Minutes were read by RoseMary and approved.  Bob gave the treasurer’s report showing a balance of $1,857.97.  Thirteen members have paid dues.  A letter was composed by Ron and approved by all and will be mailed out to remind everyone that the fiscal year has changed now running from October to October and dues are due.

The next meeting will be the Christmas Party on Friday, December 8 at 6:00 P.M. at Sam Corey Senior Center and will be strictly FUN with a potluck, music, dancing, and entertainment.  Diane is in charge and a motion was made to provide her with a budget of $50.00 for decorations, etc.

Jill talked to Doris Finley from the Friendship Force of Greater Detroit who was the out-bound exchange director to the all-Michigan exchange to Australia last September and all had a good time.  She will be exchange director for the 2007 exchange to New Zealand.

Diane volunteered to be exchange director for the in-bound exchange from Mount Barker and Casterton, Australia.  She would like to put together something (CD, video, pamphlet) telling all about Michigan and why clubs should come here.  This idea was approved and will be worked on.

The main goal of the evening was to discuss the meetings of the coming year.  It was decided to have a general meeting every other month on the third Friday of the month and board meetings on the opposite month on the third Monday as follows:

General meetings: December 8, 2006-Christmas Party (as mentioned above); February 16, 2007; April 20; June 15; July 16 (both general and board meeting to plan for incoming Australians);  August—inbound exchange (dates to be announced); October 19-Annual Meeting; and December 7 (Christmas Party).  Interesting programs will follow every meeting.

Board meetings: January 15; March 19; May 21; July 16 (along with general meeting to plan inbound exchange with Australia); September 17; November 19;

It is hoped that members will put these dates on their calendars.  All the above will be put on the web-site which is being updated by Bob.

With no further business, the meeting was closed at 9:57 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Rose Mary Hopp, Treasurer
