THE FRIENDSHIP FORCE OF GREATER LANSING

SUMMARY OF BOARD MEETING -

The Board of The Friendship Force of Greater Lansing met on January 8, 2010 at the home of RoseMary and Tom Hopp.  No minutes were read.  Ron Parsons passed out the treasurer’s report which showed a favorable balance with 35 paid members.

No other committee reports were presented.

Next discussed were places to meet.  Foster Community Center was investigated by Marge Clarke and Diane Maxim-Parsons.  It had adequate space but no kitchen.  It would cost $10 an hour. Ron Parsons  checked Hannah Community Center  which  had adequate space and a kitchen at $20 an hour.   Ron made a motion to hold the February  19 meeting at Foster Community Center serving only refreshments and a program by Carol Wilson-Duffy, External Programs Coordinator at Michigan State University.  Seconded and approved.  The meeting would take place from 6:30 P.M.-8:30 P.M.  No alcoholic beverages are allowed but if anyone wanted to meet elsewhere afterwards, that would be OK.

It was agreed to hold the April 16 meeting at the Hannah Community Center with a potluck beginning at 6:00 P.M. and a Ghana program by Ron Parsons and ambassadors.

World Friendship Day will be celebrated on Friday, March 5 with a wine tasting party being planned by Ron Parsons and Tom Hopp.  More details later.

The Dayton inbound exchange will take place June 2-12 in conjunction with the Grand Rapids FF.  Tonya Green agreed to be  Exchange Director.

We will be having an in-bound exchange with The Friendship Force of Kaluga (near Moscow) in September, 2010.   We need an Exchange Director for this.  Hopefully someone will volunteer at the General Meeting.

Tonya Green is organizing a “Walk the Mackinac Bridge” on September 6.  More information at the General Meeting on February 19.

Jill Murphy  announced that the out-bound exchange to Causeway Coast, May 13-28, has 21 people going with members from N. Illinois, Columbus, Ohio, and Detroit  along with our club.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

RoseMary Hopp, Secretary
